SLAM Executive Director:
James M. Rich, MA, CRNA
Background:
BSN from Ball State University (1976) and is a
1978 graduate of the Walter Reed Intensive Care Nursing Course at
Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He subsequently
earned his certificate in nurse anesthesia from the Academy of
Health Sciences at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas and Walter Reed Army
Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1981. He also holds an MA in
Theology and History.
Clinical Practice:
Practices as a CRNA at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas,
Texas and is an adjunct instructor in Emergency Medicine Education
at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He
has been actively involved in clinical anesthesia for more than 20
years and continues to provide both regional and general anesthetics
to all classes of ASA patients on a full-time basis.
Airway Management Training:
Founder and executive director of the Airway Education &
Research Foundation (AERF) and the creator of SLAM™ Emergency
Airway Conferences and Workshops. Since the inception of AERF in
1999, more than 2000 practitioners have received training in
emergency airway management through the conferences and workshops.
Other Professional Interests &
Endeavors:
International speaker who frequently lecturers on airway management
and sits on the editorial review board of several international
journals. He has published articles on various aspects of
anesthesiology and airway management. He is editing a book on airway
management and is the author of the Rich Universal Emergency Airway Algorithm.
Lecture Schedule:
He is available for lecturing and hands-on training at conferences
and other events.
